We have the honor to showcase artwork from OKCPS students this year at the 2022 Conference responding to the theme: Our Planet, Our Health: The Intersection of Health and Climate. View the art submissions below.

DEADLINES

Submissions open: October 15th, 2021

Submissions close: December 18th, 2021

 

DETAILS

  • Any OKCPS high school or middle school student may submit an art piece.

  • All mediums accepted, including photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, writing, or video. Students may create pieces using recycled/reused materials.

  • Art submissions will be displayed as part of the Bridges to Access Conference and used as promotional materials. Art submissions may be used on items such as magnets, postcards, with artist credit. No profit will be made off of the artwork.

  • Students may submit pieces even if not enrolled in art classes.

Name of Art Piece: “When It’s All Over”
Description: Mixed Media. “My art piece is a futuristic final destination for human life if we continue to ignore the environmental impact on our lives and health. In a world that has social and civil injustices within economic disparities. Climate Justice is an imperative for our health, climate and environment.”

Name of Art Piece: “When the Earth is Sick, We’re Sick, Too”
Description of Art Piece: My art piece is a drawing, and is about how the Sun heats up the Earth, causing global warming, and, in turn, leading to the sickness of many people and the environment.

Description of Art Piece: Medium: charcoal on paper, and tracing paper (around 3'-6')
”This is a self-portrait drawing of myself, as a student who value mental health, most of my art work represent the feelings, identity, thinking, and etc. I'm an asian immigrant high school student who is currently in my last year of high school, most of the time this year, I always feel stressed out about school, work and family and this piece of art represent my feelings recently. Sometimes, I feel like our voices are not being heard and not valuable. I created this piece not to just expressing my feelings but also emphasizing the mental health aspect from people my age.”

Description of Art Piece: The medium that is used in this piece is water color. My piece is showing the current state of health that our earth is in right now.

Prizes

Up to 30 selected works will be displayed at the conference. The 1st place winner receives $150, 2nd place winner receives $100, and 3rd place winner receives $50. All selected works will receive a Bridges to Access Certificate of Achievement and be recognized at the Conference.

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION

  • To submit an art piece, the student must

    • fill out the Art Submission Form on this webpage and

    • send a scanned photo of the art piece to artsubmissionb2a@gmail.com.

    • The email must include the name of the student.

  • Selected works will be displayed at the conference on February 12th, 2022. Winners will be announced during the Closing Ceremony of the Conference.

  • To display the artwork at the conference in February, Bridges to Access Committee Members will pick up selected works from the art teacher of the student.

  • Students may be asked to rescan their art piece depending on the quality of the scan.
